Description
A group project for Ellekær youth club in Åarhus. The challenge was to enhance a sense of ownership and create a stronger identity for the youth club involving the kids.

We conducted a series of interviews and workshops together with the kids and pedagogues as part of our research process. We wanted to focus on ownership and personification of objects in order to increase kids' sense of appreciation for the facilities and create a stronger sense of identity.

For the final solution we have created a typeface together with the kids, that we have translated into branding and various physical objects the kids can interact with.
Process
Below are the pictures of the process: 2 typeface workshops we did with the kids at the youth club providing them with different materials.
With co-creating typeface workshop, we involved kids to the design process. In order to create ownership and connection between kids and the youth club.

The typeface we have created based on our workshops with the kids from the Ellekær youth club.
Branding
We have expanded the typeface above into branding with logo and icons for tagging different rooms at the youth club.
Logo Design for the Youth Club
The Logo is composed of three elements: "e" for Ellekær youth club, which combined with a "house shape" representing the club as the warm home for kids, and "smile" for the club's joyful feeling.
Icons design for tagging different activity rooms at the youth club
The icons are composed of the shapes that kids used and like the most during the previous workshops.
Product Design
We designed some products to create personification in the youth club space and extend our branding to kids' daily life in or out of the space as well, including tagging board, room tagging, alphabet ruler and stickers.
Products design by Jeilin Chen.
